College of Nursing and Health Organizes “Healthy Favorite Dish: Reducing Sugar, Fat, and Salt” Project to Promote Community Health on National Nurses Day 2026

On October 21, 2026, led by Capt. Dr. Thanaporn Wannakul, together with nursing students, the College of Nursing and Health organized the project “Healthy Favorite Dish: Reducing Sugar, Fat, and Salt” at Wat Trai Rattanaram Community in Bang Khen District, Bangkok, in celebration of National Nurses Day 2026. The activity was conducted in collaboration with Bang Khen Public Health Service Center 24.

The project aimed to promote knowledge and raise awareness of the health risks associated with excessive consumption of sugary, fatty, and salty foods. Participants also learned how to prepare healthy meals based on the Ministry of Public Health’s 6:6:1 principle, which provides guidelines for appropriately controlling the amounts of sugar, oil, and salt in food.

In addition, participants took part in a hands-on cooking activity to prepare healthy shredded chicken noodle salad. The recipe and ingredients were adjusted to align with the 6:6:1 principle, offering a healthier food option that participants could incorporate into their daily lives while helping reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

This project reflects the nursing profession’s vital role in promoting health and preventing diseases within communities. It also supports efforts to empower people with the knowledge and skills to make appropriate food choices, improve their quality of life, and achieve sustainable health and well-being.
