Second-Year Nursing Students Conduct Community Survey at Ban Hua Hat and Develop Sweet Kaffir Lime Mouthwash Product
--------------------------------
Rangsarn Maraphen, Associate Professor and Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, together with second-year students from the Bachelor of Nursing Science program, conducted a community field survey at Ban Hua Hat, Village No. 9, Mueang Mai Subdistrict, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province. The purpose of the visit was to study the community context and explore the potential of local resources under the project “Development of Product and Packaging for Sweet Kaffir Lime Mouthwash.” This project is part of the Entrepreneurship Competency Development for Local Development through Soft Skills Process (Social Engineer) Project for the fiscal year 2026.
The objective of this field activity was to allow students to learn how to work collaboratively with the community through participatory processes. Students studied community problems, needs, and potential resources in order to further develop products derived from local resources—particularly the development of mouthwash made from “sweet kaffir lime.” They also worked on designing appropriate packaging that could add value to community products.
In addition, the students practiced important soft skills such as communication, teamwork, analytical thinking, and problem-solving through the social engineer learning process, which emphasizes integrating academic knowledge with sustainable local development. This activity also helped enhance students’ learning experiences outside the classroom and strengthen their sense of social responsibility.
Furthermore, the project connects academic knowledge with tangible community development and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) : SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
